After spending two seasons as the music director of the DTE/Detroit Edison Glee Club, Michael is back enjoying the life of a full time performing artist.

Armed with quite possibly the strongest voice on the dueling piano circuit combined with the gift of gab that only an Irishman could be blessed with, Michael has been tearing up the Metro Detroit club scene for over a year now.

For 15 years Michael performed at The Old Shillelagh, downtown Detroit’s landmark Irish pub. Now residing in Mid-Michigan, he can be seen regularly at such venues as JD's Key Club, Rum Runners Dueling Pianos, Pub13, Coco Joe's Beach House and the Detroit MGM Grand Casino

Rum Runners Dueling Piano Bar A Lansing original! Great drinks, tropical atmosphere with Dueling Pianos upstairs and a DJ/dance floor downstairs. Great fun after a Lugnuts game! I am one of the regular players here in Lansing but be sure to check the schedule before you plan a visit.

Pub 13 A bi-level dueling pianos and sports bar, Pub 13 in Ypsilanti is the perfect combination of metropolitan class with the warmth of a neighborhood tavern. Look for me here on select weekend throughout 2009!

O'Malley's Irish Pub Hartland's most famous watering hole! Great pub with EXCELLENT food and a fun wait staff. I have performed here on Saint Patrick's Day for the last several years. Be sure to check the calendar for updates to O' Malley's live music schedule.

Irish Tavern Irish pub in Waterford. The new owners have the place looking great! Same people who own Bo's Bistro in Pontiac. Stop in during "Arts, Beats and Eats" for a pint or two!

Thee Irish Pub Located in the McNamara Terminal Concourse B of Detroit Metro Airport. A great place for a pint if you are traveling. You must be a ticketed passenger or famous Irish musician to enter!

JD's Key Club/Dueling Piano Bar Dueling Pianos at it's finest! Matt and the boys keep the PIANOS ON FIRE! Not only that, but the staff pours a fine pint of Guinness as well. Be sure to check the calendar to see when I am playing here.

The Old Shillelagh Downtown Detroit's landmark Irish pub. My home for 15 years. Billy Dixon and Black Mist still keep the Shillelagh rockin' every Friday and Saturday night. 5 stars!

Sherwood Brewing Company Great Pub with all home made brew. Even the birch beer rocks. Owner Ray Sherwood is well on his way to becoming a master brewer. Try the dark beer if you stop in and tell him I said hello!

Black Mist Billy Dixon, Jerry Poirier & Phil DeMarco. The Old Shillelagh House Band - my old band mates! Send them up a shot of Irish Mist if you visit the pub and ask them to play Seven Old Ladies! They LOVE that song!

Terry Murphy Fantastic player with a great knowledge of folk music. Guest artist on our Black Mist CD. Hey Terry, what was the last line from the movie "The Commitments" anyway?

Michael O'Brien Internet home of Michael O'Brien. The Patron Saint of Guinness drinkers everywhere, Michael sings both Irish and classical music. A booming voice with a matching personality!

Gerard Smith Great guy. His CD "Hamtramck : Heaven" is very good and worth the $15.

Odd Enough These guys combined with Michael O'Brien form the Distractions. Highly entertaining with a progressive attitude! They maintain a nice website with links to great Irish music sites.
